Who thinks the world is overpopulated with far too many mobile phones? Certainly not South Korean electronics giant LG, which has today announced that it will be showcasing its new slider phone, the snappily titled LG-KF510, at the upcoming GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain.

Arriving with a ‘thickness’ of just 10.9mm, the LG-KF510 is being billed as an extremely thin slider-based handset that combines unique design accents such as a metal frame, tempered glass, and “metal gradation paint schemes” with a tactile and visually interactive user interface to deliver slim styling beside advanced functionality.
While the likes of Apple’s hugely popular iPhone and Nokia’s heavyweight N95 smartphone might be the immediate phones of choice for those looking for unique style and obvious power, LG is banking on the sales appeal of the KF510’s interactive interface, which includes “captivating animation developed based on LG’s advanced touch technology.”
Other features of note on the KF510 include slide-out conventional keys, a multi-function autofocus 3.0 mega pixel digital camera and also an onboard MP3 player. The phone will also arrive available in colour variants of Stardust Dark Grey or Sunset Red.
While final pricing and in-depth technical specifications are yet to be confirmed by LG, the KF510 is pencilled in for a March 2008 launch around the world and is expected to retail for around $330 USD.
Those interested in taking a closer look at the handset before its official retail arrival can do so by visiting LG’s stand at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 -- which will be held in Barcelona from February 11-14.
