The classic old adage, “No sex please, we’re British” might soon have to be altered to read “No sex please, we’re British technophiles” based on the results of a recent retail survey conducted in the UK.

More specifically, Reuters reports leading British electronics retailer Comet is claiming that while sex might not be considered an important part of life for men in the UK, the size of their… television sets most definitely is.
According to the results of the survey, which quizzed respondents as to what they would be willing to give up in life in return for a 50-inch plasma television, some 47 percent of men said they’d assume six months of chastity in the bedroom in order to secure a monster television in the lounge.
By way of comparison, only around a third of women said they would be prepared to do the same, leading Comet to quip that “size really does matter more for men than women.”
The survey, conducted across 2,000 Britons also revealed that 25 percent of those polled regarding the 50-inch TV trade-off would be happy to give up smoking, while approximately 25 percent said they’d bid a tearful farewell to the consumption of chocolate.
