the title of the article is wrong, as is the information. it was only one update that caused a problem. this problem did not cause a 'system update freeze' as this story stated. windows update is fully working, so you will still be able to get windows defender, driver, and security updates. delivered to windows vista users. only the problematic update will not be offered until further notice. Microsoft is currently working on this problem and will work to get the problem solved soon.
I have windows vista and have had issues with it freezing up because of this update. After reloading the operating system, my computer automatically installed updates. After reading this article, I realized that the update mentioned was one of them. This is a week after this article came out. So, apparently windows has not really suspended this update and kept it from being automatically installed. Just a warning to those out there, set your computer to not install updates automatically and check which updates your computer is installing, especially since this update deletes all restore points.
