Mozilla, creator of the Firefox Web browser, has this week revealed that the latest version of its popular alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will focus on how users search for their online information and how best to enhance that experience.

Talking with the BBC World Service, Mozilla explained that Firefox 3, which is presently in its third phase of beta testing, is set to arrive with the capacity for offline working while also offering Web searchers use of a combination search and bookmark tool accessed through the URL bar.
Furthermore, Mozilla acknowledged that online search tools are the foremost mainstay solution for those users seeking information retrieval on the Net, and that Mozilla has developed new ways to more personally align that access with the user.
Mitchell Baker, chairman of the Mozilla foundation, outlined to the BBC that typing specific words into the URL bar will present the user with a list of recently visited Web destinations that contain that word in their domain name. For example, typing in “shoes” will prompt Firefox’s search function to return a list of sites the user has visited that relate to that particular word.
“If you buy shoes, that's all you need to remember,” said Baker, “we will use search, as you've come to expect it, to help you find the places that you have been visiting.”
Baker also outlined that Firefox search will be “faster, sleeker, and even easier to use,” while features connected to the interface will appear only when users require them, thereby ensuring a clean and simple experience.
Although Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which comes bundled with the Windows operating system, remains the number one choice for most computer owners, Mozilla’s open-source Firefox sits in second place in the popularity stakes with 12 percent user share.
