If you’re a software developer eager to plunge your creative arms elbow-deep into the iPhone and iPod touch platforms, then scrawling a big cross through March 06 on your calendar would be well advised following today’s news.

Specifically, California-based computer specialist Apple Inc. has announced it will be holding a special event for members of the media and industry analysts on March 06, which will see it detailing plans for its iPhone and iPod touch SDKs (software development kits).
The SDK event had initially been touted by Apple as arriving in February but, as with these things, it was pushed back by a few weeks.
“Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features,” Apple wrote in a digital invitation distributed by e-mail.
Scheduled to be held at 10:00am (PST) at the ‘Town Hall’ on Apple Inc.’s Cupertino campus, it’s unlikely those invited will range beyond a few hundred due to the rather limited size of the venue, reports Apple Insider.“We want native third-party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs offered back in October of 2007. “We are excited about creating a vibrant third-party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users.”
