If you’re looking to build the foundations of an evolution-friendly gaming PC but don’t want to break the bank to the tune of several thousands of dollars, then perhaps Dell has the perfect hardware spring board.

With a starting price of $1,249 USD, Dell’s competitive XPS 630 promises to deliver “stellar performance” across the board as an excellent PC system and a worthy and versatile candidate for all your ongoing gaming needs.
According to Dell, gamers won’t ever be left having outgrown the sleek, brushed aluminium XPS 630 thanks to its standard ATX chassis build, which makes swapping out hardware for future upgrading both quick and easy.
From an ‘oomph’ point of view, the XPS 630 supports single and dual graphics options from industry heavyweights NVIDIA and ATI. With dual graphics, two cards can run parallel to provide the system with “one monstrously powerful card,” enthuses Dell, before adding that NVIDIA SLI or ATI Crossfire are on offer in the XPS 630.
Dell also teases gamers with the optional added realism of the AGEIA PhysX Accelerator, which will dramatically boost in-game detail levels of PhysX-compatible software.
“Since its inception, the Dell XPS line has been committed to delivering aggressive, competitive and attractive options for a broad spectrum of PC gamers,” said Arthur Lewis, head of Dell’s gaming group. “With the Dell XPS 630, we have the unique and exciting opportunity to offer a system that brings together the needs of enthusiasts and casual gamers.”
And those needs are addressed by a choice of Intel Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Extreme processors with front side bus speeds of up to 1333MHz, overclocking via BIOS or NVIDIA nTune, Corsair Dominator memory, and a 750W power supply to help fuel what Dell likes to call a “supersonic gaming extravaganza.”
What’s more, the XPS 630 arrives as the very first OEM PC to support Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA), which is the first open standard for the delivery of advanced levels of thermal management within the system as well as direct control of other PC peripherals.
Features available on the XPS 630 include the following:
NVIDIA nForce650 SLI Chipset
NVIDIA SLI Single/Dual Graphic options
ATI Crossfire Single/Dual Graphic options
Overclockable Intel Processors
Overclockable Corsair DOMINATOR Memory
750 Watt Power Supply
4 Internal HDD bays (Up to 3 Factory-Installed)
4 DIMM slots
Two PCIe X16 Graphic slots
Light FX 2.0 (4 lighting zones)
AGEIA PhysX Accelerator option
Blu-ray Disc Drive option
Red and Black Bezel Color Choice
Prospective customers subscribing for the XPS 630’s pre-launch discount will be able to take advantage of a limited time configuration deal that will include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB graphics cards with SLI technology, a 2-year warranty, and In-Home service for $1,299 USD.
The Dell XPS 630 became available for purchase on February 27.
