What was the ratio for Nintendo outselling xbox360? 23-1? And somehow it's the only PS3 that's being outsold NOT xbox360.
I hate how every news article points out that the PS3 is being outsold 4-1 and not mentioning how Nintendo is outselling xbox360 23-1.

I think the ratio spike is a temporary one(despite the fact the Wii will outsell everyone for quite a while). Super Smash and Wii Fit have just both come out, whilst the PS3 has had little in the 'big guns' dept, so it's not surprising that the ratio is as it is. And don't forget, these are only the Japan figures. What about everywhere else? In addition 360 sales in Japan are terrible, but in North America, they're doing very well. Then again the 360 is not born of Japan, so it's less likely to do well.

But this isn't a sprint, this is a marathon. I do however believe that MS needs to pull their finger out, and sort out their hardware. RROD is a big problem still, but I believe they'll get over it.

To step away from the 'my console is better than yours' debate, all this is good for the consumer. Actually, it'd be nice to see Sega make a comeback and add another shark to the pool. The more consoles that are available the better choice the consumer has. Some genius had stated that 'there should be only one console', much in the same way that there should be only manufacturer of PC's, cars, toasters & wigs. Well, you get the idea. It's a bit stupid.

Anyway, my point is that the Wii crowd seem very quick to dismiss the other runners in the race. Remember the 'Hare & the Tortoise'? Just maybe, that’s a cautionary tale for Nintendo. After all the Motus Darwin controller looms on the horizon, Nintendo must be feeling the pinch from that. We'll just have to wait and see.

As a footnote, I own neither console at the moment.

As Waldo stated, anyone who is surprised by the Wii once again taking the lead is a bit daft. If the numbers are the same after Sony has it's lineup come out this year, then people should be worried, but until then, this is to be expected.

In response to Sniper's comment:

Nobody cares about the numbers of the Xbox 360 in Japan. It has long been a battle in the Land of the Rising Sun between Nintendo and Sony. Japanese people do not buy American products. Period. The only real battle is between Wii and PS3 since those are the respective home markets of Sony and Nintendo. It's sad that Japan doesn't even seem to consider that perhaps Xbox 360 offers better titles and cheaper hardware. Oh well maybe one day.

a few reasons why Ps3 is/will be taking the lead ahead of the 360:

The 360 DEFINITELY does not offer better OR inexpensive hardware. And better games? for how much longer? My friend claims he's having a lot more fun with the 360 when literally all he plays on it are FPS games, LITERALLY. (Orange Box, Bioshock, Gears of war, COD4, and Halo 3) at least with the Ps3 we still get the IMPORTANT fps games like COD4 and orange (not Bioshock unfortunately) and a much wider variety of games and things to do than just mindless american shooters with 'Lotza killing and Lotza mindless action and explosions' i personally enjoy watching bluray and when i'm not home i watch content on my ps3 from my PSP.

and besides. xbox 360 is already showing it's age with games coming out with 2 or more discs (4 for Lost Odyssey) because of the lack of bluray and games that won't be ported over to the 360 because of the lack of power the 360 has (Crysis has a really good chance to be a Ps3 exclusive because of this) and the Ps3 has 2008 in exclusive games.

the 360 was better than the ps3 duh no doubt about that, but seriously things change just because they were better at first doesnt mean they always will be.
