According to Finland-based Nokia, the new Nokia 6124 classic is a compact multimedia device that offers “faster and easier access” to all of Vodafone’s high-speed Internet and entertainment services via the superior speed of 3G broadband.
“We are proud to offer the new Nokia 6124 classic, which will allow our customers to access the complete suite of Vodafone communications, browsing, content and Internet services,” enthused Jens Schulte-Bockum, Global Director Terminals at Vodafone. “In addition, the exclusive Nokia 6124 classic offers customers further improvement in their experience with many of Vodafone's services already launched with leading Internet partners.”
Built on S60 and the Symbian OS operating system, the Nokia 6124 classic delivers its Internet browsing and video streaming abilities through a 2.0-inch display screen with “outstanding brightness and clarity,” while also being equipped with a 2.0 mega pixel camera and expandable memory (via external memory card slot) up to 8GB.
Nokia vice president Markku Suomi also points out that the Nokia 6124 classic appeals to all users who want to take advantage of convenient 3G broadband access, “as the device can even be used as a fast modem to access the Internet from the PC.”
Accompanying the rollout of the 6124 classic, Nokia has also unveiled another operator-exclusive handset in the shape of the Nokia 6650, which will be available exclusively for international T-Mobile customers.
Equipped with “the latest wireless features,” such as an integrated GPS system and multimedia player, the 6650 will provide T-Mobile customers with access to the likes of Mobile Jukebox, NaviGate, MyFaces, and web‘n’walk.
The high-speed HSDPA Nokia 6650 also comes with Web browsing and download capabilities and offers a 2.2-inch TFT QVGA display screen. It will also include a 2.0 mega pixel camera, 30MB of internal memory, a micro SD card slot, Bluetooth connectivity and FM radio.
The optimised Nokia 6124 classic will start shipping in Vodafone markets in the second quarter of 2008, while the Nokia 6650 will be available from T-Mobile outlets during the third quarter of the year.
