With Microsoft still holding its corporate tongue on rumours that the Xbox 360 line is to improve its retail profile through the application of an all-model price cut, our good friend the Internet (via Dutch store Bart Smit) negates the need for any such official announcement.

Moreover, the promotional ad captured here clearly shows that the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle is to receive a sizeable Euro reduction, pulling the console down from €279.95 to €199.95 (approx. £150 GBP), which duly affords the Xbox 360 the title of ‘cheapest generational console’ throughout the region.
What’s more, while the Arcade will now beat out rival consoles the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3 for the potential cash of those prospective gamers torn on pricing versus performance, it’s not just Microsoft’s basic Xbox 360 that’s experiencing a price shift.
Far from it. In fact, Microsoft is expected to reveal today that the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite is to plummet from €549.95 to a much more tantalising €399.95 (£300 GBP), while the 20GB Premium model (bundled with Viva Pinata and Forza Motorsport 2) will be dropping a solid €100 from €399.95 to €299.95 (around £230 GBP).
To add a touch more validity to the price cut speculation, both respected videogame trade magazine MCV and the German Financial Times have backed claims that Microsoft will today officially confirm the sweeping price changes as the Xbox 360 attempts to take the retail fight to Nintendo while further distancing its price point from Sony.
It is not yet known whether Microsoft will introduce similar price drops to its North American Xbox 360 line, or whether the Euro reductions are an exclusive extension of the company’s drive to expand its growth throughout a region recently referred to as crucial for the Xbox brand.
