Much like the saturated mobile phone and portable media player markets, it would appear that there are just not enough digital cameras in the world, which is exactly why Japanese camera and imaging expert Pentax Corp. has introduced its Optio V20.
Pentax releases its new compact digital camera, the 8.0 mega pixel Optio V20.
Arriving as a distinctly compact option in the world of digital photography, the Optio V20 still manages to offer a solid 8.0 mega pixels of performance, a 5X zoom lens capability, and also a positively sprawling 3.0-inch LCD display screen.
According to Pentax, its “ultra-slim and stylish” compact offers a trio of innovative features that will aid users in optimising portrait photographs.
These include: Face Recognition for automatic detection and focusing on subject faces prior to the execution of optimum exposure; Smile Capture for the detection of facial happiness and automatic shutter release; and Blink Detection which relays to the user if any subjects closed their eyes during the shot.
Other features bolstering the appeal of the Pentax Optio V20 include Auto-tracking AF for continuous focusing on moving subjects, 52MB of onboard memory, and an Auto-Macro mode for close-up capture up to 4-inches from the subject.
The new Pentax Optio V20 will begin shipping for the US market in May of 2008 for a recommended retail price of $279.95 USD.
