South Korean consumer electronics giant LG has this week whipped the covers off a pair of new mobile phone handsets, one being aimed at a global audience, and the other to tech consumers in the regions of South Korea and Japan.

First up is the snappily titled LG-KF510, an ultra slim line, slider-based handset that stands alone through the selection of “eye-catching” colour gradations that run on the phone’s full metal exterior.
Indeed, through adding “a lustrous sophistication” to the phone, LG offers that the Stardust Dark Gray and Sunset Red colour options combine with a slender 10.9mm thickness to produce subtlety that underscores sleek design.
But enough of the press room chest beating, what does the LG-KF510 actually offer users beyond aesthetic parameters?
The LG-KF510 comes complete with an onboard 3.0 mega pixel camera with power flash and one-second timer response. It also has an “advanced MP3 player” that enables users to automatically sort music content into personal playlists, genres or separate categories.
The phone also offers up power-saving efficiency through its Auto Luminance Control (ALC) function, which preserves battery operation by self-adjusting the brightness of the phone’s LED display screen.
“2008 is the year for a new paradigm in mobile phone design and LG is setting the benchmark,” trumpeted Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. “We have established ourselves as a leader in this field and the LG-KF510 is a unique addition in our mobile portfolio. With its sleek aesthetic and superior technology, it will appeal to many discerning consumers that value both style and substance.”
No price confirmation has been released by LG at this point, but the LG-KF510 is expected to arrive in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia before the close of April.
And, announced specifically for LG Electronics’ home market and the Japanese region, LG has also revealed the clamshell LG OZ, which builds on the company’s LH2300 Touch Web phone and delivers a twist-angled display screen.
According to the boffins at Engadget, LG’s new arrival bears a striking resemblance to Casio’s W53CA only with “LG branding and new Hello UI for Korean consumption.”
The handset comes bundled with a 5.1 mega pixel camera, a CMOS sensor, 28mm lens, colour correction, 9-point auto focus capabilities, and integrated anti-shake technology to ensure better photographic performance.
The phone’s LCD screen measures in at 2.8-inches and offers 800x480 pixel resolution for DMB television along with either landscape or portrait-based Web browsing functionality. It also supports video capture at a healthy 30 frames per second (fps).
While obviously not as slim as its LG-KF510 counterpart, the 18.9mm handset contains 4GB of NAND and 1GB of SDRAM memory and also the possibility of further expansion via the inclusion of a microSD slot.
Currently restricted to South Korea and Japan, the LG OZ will also be arriving some time in April.
