Offering high quality live programming from leading entertainment brands, and also a selection of (as-yet unspecified) exclusive channels, the AT&T Mobile TV service will feature full-length TV and sporting events from the likes of CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile, FOX Mobile, MTV, NBC 2GO, NBC News2Go and Nickelodeon.
“AT&T Mobile TV is a powerful new mobile entertainment offering, which will give our customers a formidable line-up of sports, news and primetime shows,” enthused Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T’s wireless unit. “We are thrilled to team with MediaFLO USA to offer our customers an unmatched mobile entertainment experience that is changing the way we all look at TV.”
Set for an official rollout in May of this year, the mobile TV partnership between AT&T and MediaFLO USA will be hosted initially on mobile devices provided by LG Electronics and Samsung Telecommunications.
The former will run the service on its Vu handset, which offers TV, Internet, photo, and video viewing via its large touch-screen display while also bundling in an on-board music player, a 2.0 mega pixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity.
Similarly, the Samsung Access delivers a large landscape display for excellent TV viewing, along with an internal antenna for enhanced reception. The Access also packs in a digital camera, external speakers, Bluetooth, and AT&T Music.
“By making the FLO TV service available to AT&T customers, the nation's largest wireless carrier, MediaFLO USA continues to expand our award winning FLO TV service to consumers across the country,” trumpeted Gina Lombardi, president of MediaFLO USA. “We look forward to working closely with AT&T to continue the momentum of making mobile TV a staple for more consumers.”
Further details related to AT&T’s upcoming mobile TV service are expected to be released closer to its May arrival.
