Not long out of its gaming diapers and the youthful PlayStation Store is now heading for an early revamp, according to its parents at both Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA).

The new look PlayStation Store has come about as a result of SCEE gathering and processing related feedback from millions of PlayStation Network users since the online service first launched across PAL regions.
“The revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PlayStation Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation,” explains Sony. “The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface.”
According to Sony, the newly redesigned store will be ready for its official launch on the PlayStation Network in around two weeks, which, while likely to excite fans of the Japanese electronics giant’s online portal, has sadly led to the temporary cancellation of the PlayStation Store’s weekly content updates.
However, Store content already posted by Sony prior to April 01 (Europe) and April 03 (North America) will remain available to all PlayStation Network account holders, while a “special update” is scheduled to arrive in mid-April to signal the weekly service’s resurrection and make up for the small pause in its content delivery.
When the new Store design is unveiled, which is likely to coincide or directly precede the eagerly anticipated online arrival of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on April 17, PlayStation 3 owners will only be able to gain access after first installing a new firmware update for their consoles.
