Drawing from Yahoo’s existing resources through Yahoo! Food, Yahoo! Astrology and Yahoo! Health, the online magazine is looking to deliver a little something for every visiting female surfer through the likes of Astrology, At Home, Entertainment & Culture, Fashion & Beauty, Food, Health & Living, Love and Relationships, Parenting and Work & Money.
The site’s selection of categories will also include content from some of today’s most popular lifestyle publishers, such as Conde Nast Publications (Glamour, Self, Allure) and the Hearst Corporation (Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire).
Shine, which Yahoo! is launching as a one-stop magazine for the approximately 40 million women, aged 25 to 54, who visit the Yahoo! website every month, will also feature original stories published on a daily basis as provided by a seasoned editorial team (headed by publishing veteran Brandon Holley). The team will also regularly select the best user blog posts to feature prominently on the website’s pages.
“You can count on us to bring attitude and personality, and find humor in almost every topic we cover, whether it’s a post on men who wear skinny jeans, how you can get back into your skinny jeans, or whether you’ll be taken seriously if you wear jeans to work,” Holley said. “Yahoo! Shine speaks to you as a friend, telling you the secrets and tips to simplify your life.”
Beyond the obvious reader attractions connected to Shine, its targeted 25-54 female audience is also considered to be a much sought-after demographic for advertisers, made up of heavy Internet users who are frequently seen as purchase decision makers within the household.
