Stun gun devices might not be readily available for purchase in Canadian stores, but that small speed bump certainly didn’t pose much of an obstacle for one particularly creative Toronto boy who turned to the wonders of the world wide web in order to fashion his own serviceable alternative.

A student of Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton, the unnamed child duly found instructions on how to convert a conventional bug zapper into an electro-shock weapon by simply inputting search parameters through an online search engine and perusing the sites it returned.
Once properly retrofitted for use, the boy then proceeded to sell his cobbled device to a fellow pupil in the school for the princely sum of $20, before both parties were rumbled by a diligent teacher -- who subsequently confiscated the makeshift weapon.
Insisting that neither child involved in the matter had any intent to cause harm with the device, Grey Highlands’ principal Anne Maclaughlin maintained that both children were simply “really good kids that made a mistake.”
According to a related article in the Toronto Sun, step-by-step instructions regarding the creation of stun guns can be found online in a matter of moments, with several sites, including video-sharing site YouTube, offering detailed explanations surrounding the process.
While perhaps far removed from the hotchpotch creation of a basic stun device, the Internet has also been criticised for offering up Web sites that provide instruction for the building of bombs, firearms and even chemical weapons.
Specifically, reports surfaced in March outlining that a Jihadist Web site was supplying information on how to carry out the production of anthrax, while various Iraqi documents containing a basic guide to building an atom bomb apparently found their way online in 2003.
