Two things -- First, AMD has been in the business for a long time. It had seen the ups and more importantly has seen the downs of the industry. Intel has always been aggressive and the future will be no different. AMD has seen this in the past and has to simply deal with it. After all, it is a big market.

Secondly, the US government does not like monopolies and hence will not allow only one chipmaker to remain in business. So, AMD is going to stay in the business one way or another.
