Specifically feeding My Space’s ‘Decision ‘08 Election Community,’ the news-fuelled partnership between NBC and MSNBC will provide social network users interested in the race for the White House with a comprehensive online centre for in-depth coverage, analysis and discussion related to the race for the White House.
Decision ‘08 is already live on MySpace and serves as a hub for civic and social engagement, while also in place to deliver innovative features and new, interactive opportunities for the MySpace community to more closely and actively engage in unfolding presidential events.
The Decision ‘08 experience currently presents users with access to topical election coverage, news feeds, daily video footage (from NBC and MSNBC) along with user-generated content from MySpace its self. The service also includes profile links to various NBC and MSNBC anchors and reporters.
“The 2008 election is proving to be the most youth- and technology-driven race in history, and MySpace is a significant forum for political discussion today,” explained Lee Brenner, Director of IMPACT and Executive Producer of Political Programming at MySpace. “We are privileged today to be partnering with such revered news organizations as NBC News and msnbc.com, and to be taking our first steps in what will be a unique and engaging collaboration for the MySpace community.”
User-friendly resources set to be introduced through Decision ‘08 include widespread news sourcing through the application of RSS feeds, and the very latest breaking political stories from MSNBC’s exclusive “First Read” political news blog. Other handy aspects include online voter registration, online poll contributions, an interactive map with ongoing election stats, and images and video taken from prior MySpace IMPACT events.
