Tech trend-setter and renowned computer manufacturer Apple Inc. has today issued a significant graphics update to its existing iMac range with the integration of the very latest Core 2 Duo processor offerings from Intel Corporation.

Touting the update as providing iMac users with “the most powerful graphics ever available” on the platform, prices for the newly overhauled computers start at $1,199 USD and include 6MB of L2 cache, a 1066MHz FSB across the board, and 2GB of 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory (standard in most models) that can be optionally upgraded to 4GB.
“With the latest Intel processors, a faster new graphics option and more memory, customers now have even more reasons to love the iMac.” enthused Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Apple also outlines that its 24-inch iMac comes with a top-end (built-to-order) 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the (built-to-order) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics card, which comes with 512MB of video memory, and provides up to twice the standard performance for graphics intensive applications.

A $1,199 USD model with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 1066MHz FSB, 1GB (up to 4GB) of 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 250GB Serial ATA HDD, an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB GDDR3 memory, and a 20-inch widescreen LCD display screen.
A $1,499 USD model with a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 1066MHz FSB, 2GB (up to 4GB) of 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 320GB Serial ATA HDD, an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB GDDR3 memory, and a 20-inch widescreen LCD display screen.
And a $1,799 USD model with 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 1066MHz FSB, 2GB (up to 4GB) of 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 320GB Serial ATA HDD, an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB GDDR3 memory, and a 24-inch widescreen LCD display.
