Citing the Bluetooth headset market as expected to hit 120 million units worldwide by 2009, alongside the steady emergence of hands-free driving legislation across the United States and Canada, Aliph is positioning its new ergonomic Jawbone for appealing to a broad consumer demographic thanks to its “unparalleled form and function.”
Touting its “best in class” noise elimination science, the new lightweight (10g) Jawbone offers up “military grade” NoiseAssassin technology, which Aliph claims is “unmatched” in its ability to block out up to ten times more noise energy than its closest market rival. Using its patented Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), the new Jawbone is able to quite literally feel a user’s speech, separating out speech from background noise interference “with incredible accuracy.”
Originally developed for the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NoiseAssassin has been created to cope with even those extreme noise levels experienced when utilised in the most inhospitable of terrains and environments.
“In creating the new Jawbone we focused on improving our audio performance beyond the market leading noise solution that we already had, and elevating the design to a point where it would appeal to a broad range of consumers who would love to wear it,” enthused Hosain Rahman, CEO and co-founder of San Francisco-based Aliph.
“Jawbone provides amazing audio quality in a form factor that is a true lifestyle accessory -- it’s a new and complete departure from the typical gadgetry of the Bluetooth category,” he added. Pushed to consumers as attractive earwear rather than a geeky headset, the new Jawbone is constructed from medical-grade plastics with better cosmetic and health-based performance. The Bluetooth ‘earset’ also offers up advanced comfort and personal fit choice thanks to three sizes of earbuds and four different earloop variations.
Other specs and functions include: compatibility with all Bluetooth-enable phones (Bluetooth 1.1, 1.2, and 2.0); more than four hours of talk time and eight hours of standby time; a new fast-charge battery that offers 80 percent charge in approximately 30 minutes; USB charge connectivity; a usage range of 33 feet (10 metres); and colour availability in matte black, silver, or rose gold.
Aliph’s new and improved Jawbone with NoiseAssassin technology is available now for $129.99 USD at AT&T retail stores nationwide and also online at the official Jawbone Web site.
