Released yesterday, the 10.5.3 software update addresses around 70 issues nipping at the reliability heels of Apple’s operating system and its related components, reports online industry watcher Macworld.
In terms of specifics, the update delivers a reliability fix for the Time Machine back-up application, which also deals with the unwarranted appearance of an unnecessary and incorrect alert pop-up informing the user that their system doesn’t have enough back-up volume space.
The update also offers the welcome application of Band Aids for compatibility problems related to both the Time Capsule back-up device and Apple’s dedicated photographic suite, Aperture 2.
Other elements dealt with by the 10.5.3 update include: a selection of minor performance tweaks to Spaces -- Apple’s virtual desktop software; reliability improvements to .Mac syncing; a total of 10 fixes to Mail; and also the smoothing of reliability problems connected to Automator, AirPort, Address Book, iChat, Parental Controls and VoiceOver.
Mac OS X 10 users can grab the hefty update release through their system’s Software Update controls. The full 10.5.3 update is, of course, totally free and weighs in at 420MB.
