Already established as the ultra-portable laptop of choice for the budget demographic, the always popular and always expanding Eee PC line is about to get two more hardware entrants in the form of the new Eee PC Ultimate and Eee PC PRO Fashion.

Technology publication Digitimes reports that Jerry Shen, the president of Eee PC manufacturer ASUSTek, has this week confirmed the ongoing development of the Ultimate and PRO Fashion models, which are expected to take the Eee PC line to 13 variations before the close of 2008.
Initial chatter concerning the new arrivals first began following their online emergence via an ASUS Eee business roadmap (pictured) detailing the company’s forward-looking direction for its popular, pocket-friendly computers.
According to the roadmap screenshot, the Ultimate will be made available as the Eee PC S101 and S91, while the PRO Fashion will be served up as the Eee PC 1000HV, 1002SA, 1002HA and the T101.
While the prospect of another two Eee PCs might cock a few eyebrows with the most discerning tech consumers, the truly interesting aspect confirmed by Shen is that the Ultimate and PRO Fashion flavours will come armed with more performance and storage muscle thanks to the inclusion of Intel’s dual core Atom processors and choices of either a 32GB solid state drive (SSD) or a 120GB hard disk drive (HDD).
The first new Eee PC is expected to launch towards the close of September, complete with a 32GB solid state drive, a 10.1-inch LED backlit display screen (16:9 aspect ratio), and single-charge operational time of between 4 and 5 hours.
Prices for the new upper-tier Ulimate and PRO Fashion models are likely to run from $700 USD to $900 USD, with ASUSTek looking to use the new arrivals to help it ship upwards of 1.6 million Eee PC units in the third quarter of 2008 -- a figure that will take the brand’s traction to 5 million sales in a year.
