Apple Inc. may be synonymous with the sound of silence when it comes to commenting on speculation or giving up tantalising nuggets of information regarding its high-profile product transitions, but that rarely prevents the Net from chattering enthusiastically about what’s next likely to emerge from the Cupertino-based computer and gadgetry giant.
Rumours abound regarding new MacBook and MacBook Pro arrivals. Image: Apple.
Moreover, current technology grain being churned by the rumour mill suggests that Apple is preparing to launch brand new versions of its uber-popular MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops. With a widely proffered release date of as early as this coming September, a number of ardent Apple watchers believe the new hardware offerings will be revamped in several ways.
For example, tech magazine Computerworld suggests that the new MacBook will arrive as thinner, more rounded, and notably more powerful than its immediate predecessor. Also, the new MacBook’s exterior construction is expected to be formed from a single piece of sleekly robust and eco-friendly aluminium produced via a brand new manufacturing process.
Reports also point to the new MacBook being equipped with a multi-touch trackpad that could well be made of glass (?) and even capable of processing user gestures. However, belief seems to be cooling with regard to the introduction of new multi-touch display screens.
Meanwhile, Apple fan site MacRumors seems to think upcoming aesthetic alterations made to the new MacBook Pro will take their inspiration from Apple’s iMac desktop computer and the borderline anorexic MacBook Air.
In terms of oomph-based upgrades, online speculation points to both the MacBook and MacBook Pro coming complete with Intel’s newly unveiled Centrino 2 technology and also improved screen size options of 14-inch and 15.6-inch.
The gathering rush of rumour surrounding certain devices attached to Apple’s product line have sprung up after the company’s chief financial officer, Peter Oppenheimer, revealed at a recent Apple conference that new and technologically-superior devices will soon be launched.
Other Apple product chatter currently testing the gullibility of fans the world over include the possible emergence of a new touch-based tablet computer, Apple-branded jet boots offered via a special Kinder Surprise promotion, and also yet more design changes for the iPod line, with the Nano and Touch devices thought to be the most likely to feel the effects of Apple’s creative shuffle.
