Continuing the current wave of activity in the low-cost and ultra-portable computer arena, interest surrounding Lenovo’s latest diminutive hardware offering has increased these past few days following the appearance of a YouTube clip believed to showcase a prototype of the new IdeaPad S10.

Originally posted to the popular video-sharing service by user ‘LinuxJB’, the video clip is apparently footage of Lenovo’s upcoming ultra-portable laptop captured during an electronics preview event that took place in New York a few weeks ago.
While cast-iron specifications for the IdeaPad S10 are currently rarer than rocking-horse poop, it is widely thought that Lenovo will imbue its value hardware with 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch blacklit LED display screens, Intel’s Atom processor, and 160GBs of HDD storage.
According to eagle-eyed industry watchers, the little Lenovo IdeaPad S10 will be initially rolled out in white or pink colour options and is expected to make its retail bow this coming September.
Offered price guestimations start at $399 USD, but that figure could stretch to upwards of $599 USD based on consumer preferences.
Reports suggest that mass production of the IdeaPad S10 has been assigned to Taiwan-based hardware manufacturer Quanta Computer Inc., which has beaten out rival interest from the likes of Compal Electronics, Pegatron and Wistron.
Quanta Computer is the world’s largest manufacturer of laptop hardware and produces devices for the likes of Apple, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, Sony and Toshiba.
