More Apple-flavoured rumour mongering for your insatiable technology appetite this week with various industry watchers claiming that the Cupertino-based outfit is preparing to sprinkle yet more fairy dust on its product line -- this time to magically produce a ‘Nano’ edition of the trend-friendly iPhone.

According to British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mail, an unnamed “industry source” has let slip that the new iPhone Nano will be unveiled through exclusive UK carrier O2 as a pay-as-you-go product, and will likely be offered for around 150 GBP.
“This will be a big one,” the source is quoted as saying with regard to the ‘Nano’ edition of Apple’s iconic touch-screen smartphone.
The source also commented that the existing EDGE and 3G models of the iPhone are too expensive to serve as realistic propositions for the pay-as-you-go market, while a reduced sized handset more closely resembling the iPod Nano would likely be “a huge hit as a Christmas gift.”
Other related speculation surrounding the iPhone Nano points to the handset being a somewhat ‘iPhone Lite’ device that comes without full Internet access and is equipped with a rear-facing iPod-style touch wheel for number input, and a front-facing display screen.
Current Internet chatter points to a Christmas 2008 retail release for the shrunken smartphone, which will apparently arrive sporting an aesthetic more readily in keeping with Apple’s hugely popular iPod Nano multimedia players.
Other related Apple rumours claim the computer and gadgetry specialist is planning to unveil a 64GB version of its non-telephony iPod Touch and a slightly lengthened version of its iPod Nano Video, which will come complete with a bigger viewing screen.
Whispers surrounding the possible arrival of an iPhone Nano follow hot on the heels of supposed hardware tweaks that Apple is implementing to its MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops.
