Described by Switzerland-based Logitech as “the CD player of the 21st century,” the Squeezebox Boom delivers digital music to any room in the home thanks to the combination of an integrated amplifier and high-performance speakers, which provide high-quality audio in a compact, all-in-one design.

According to Logitech, the convenience of the Squeezebox enables users to enjoy music from any room in the house, simply by plugging the player into a power outlet -- the device requires no other wired connections or external speakers.

Compatible music file formats include MP3, FLAC, WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, and AIFF.
Once powered up, the Squeezebox Boom automatically uses true 802.11g connectivity and dual internal antennas to detect available networks, which the user can then select and access after inputting their specific password, which the player can also remember for future ease of use.
And, while the Squeezebox can be easily moved from one room to the next, if users want to spread their music without unplugging and plugging around the house, then additional Squeezebox Boom devices can be added to the network in order to create home-wide wireless coverage.
The player’s audio muscle is provided by an integrated, all-digital 30-watt amplifier, which is bolstered by a pair of three-quarter inch, high-definition, soft-dome tweeters and two 3-inch, high-power, long-throw woofers. A subwoofer connection is also available for those craving the addition of more bass.
Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a seven-day alarm clock function, a magnetised remote control unit, an auto-dimming display, and six preset buttons for assigning favourite songs, Internet radio stations or personal playlists.
Set to blast into U.S. and European retail outlets this coming September, the Squeezebox Boom from Logitech is expected to be priced at around $299.99 USD.
