It may be planning worldwide cutbacks to its staff infrastructure , but computer giant Hewlett-Packard (HP), the global leader in PC systems, certainly isn’t holding back when it comes to pushing its emerging product lines. Unveiled this week, HP is hoping to stimulate consumer attraction with its sleekly defined TouchSmart IQ800 series.

Described as delivering a boundary-stretching personal computing experience alongside elevated ease of use, the new TouchSmart IQ800 PC offers up a 25.5-inch display screen that, as the name suggests, fronts a versatile touch-screen entertainment system that provides fingertip multimedia access.
While perfect for enjoying photos, music and video-based content, HP’s new all-in-one desktop system can also double up as a thoroughly respectable television thanks to the generous sizing of its widescreen display. Wall mountable, the TouchSmart IQ800 includes 1920 x 1200 resolution and comes complete with a side-loading Blu-ray player for stunning, high-definition playback.
In terms of performance, the IQ800 runs on a powerful and energy-efficient Intel Core 2 Duo processor and also utilises HP’s power management technology to provide users with as much as 45 percent energy savings compared to PC systems without power management.
Other features and functions include an onboard Web camera, a coloured HP Ambient Light, a built-in media card reader, a high-speed hard disk drive (HDD), HP’s Pocket Media Drive Bay for data storage expansion, and premium quality speakers.
“HP is developing new products and solutions that help make connecting to people and information simple and fun and create a truly personalized computing experience,” trumpeted Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president of HP’s Personal Systems Group.
Not just pushing the TouchSmart, HP has also shone the spotlight on its new HDX16 and HDX18 Notebook PCs, which are offered up a entertainment rich systems perfect for multimedia on-the-go.
Complete with 16-inch and 18.4-inch displays (1080 pixels), onboard TV tuners, and Blu-ray HD capabilities, both new portable entrants are also bolstered by built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, home-theatre quality audio and video -- including Altec Lansing speakers, an HP Triple Bass subwoofer, Dolby Home Theater software, and HP Media Smart.
The Hewlett-Packard HDX16 is expected to open at retail for around $1,300 USD, while the HDX18 will start at approximately $1,550 USD and the TouchSmart IQ800 will open at $1,900 USD. Both the notebooks and the TouchSmart IQ800 are scheduled for availability before the end of this month.
