Third-party publishing behemoth Electronic Arts (EA) has this week announced its ‘Be The One’ interactive extravaganza, which will take place during the upcoming London Games Festival and give attendees the exciting opportunity to sample the latest releases, win prizes and play against a host of media celebrities.

Set to go live on October 31 and November 01 before a crowd of thousands in London’s famous Trafalgar Square, the Be The One experience will be held in a spectacular centrepiece structure designed to accent the returning London Games Festival and its wealth of games-related events.
Referred to by EA as the interactive BattleDome, the (thankfully) weather-proof Be The One arena is a large transparent state-of-the-art construction filled with all the current home videogame consoles, high-definition (HD) display screens, and the very latest in cutting-edge PC hardware. And, best of all, access is completely free.
Punctuating the appeal of EA’s BattleDome is a large main stage that will host public gaming challenges played out between competing gamers and against an array of willing celebrities. The stage, which is flanked by huge HD screens, will also showcase a selection of live musical performances to entertain watching fans.
Opening on the evening of October 30, the Be The One experience will include the public premiere of EA’s eagerly awaited Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, which is the latest next-gen entrant to the popular action strategy series -- itself set for official release on October 31 for the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows.
Bolstered by television coverage, the opening of the BattleDome will see invited celebrities, Red Alert fans and members of the public able to enjoy live and recorded appearances from some of the acting cast lending performances to the game.
Additionally, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 will also break new ground in hosting an international live challenge between gamers in Russia and Great Britain.
Other international online clashes scheduled to storm the BattleDome during the festival include EA Sports challenges between U.S. and British gamers across the likes of Madden NFL 09, FIFA 09 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09.
Other titles expected to be bathed in the glow of EA’s spotlight include the latest entrants in popular franchises such as Need for Speed, The Sims, Harry Potter, and Rock Band while also providing a platform for new titles such as Mirror’s Edge, Battleforge, Spore, Boogie SuperStar, and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
The London Games Festival begins on October 24 and runs through to November 07. Leading events include Video Games Live, Guitar Hero World Tour: Battle of the Bands, Be The One, and the 2008 Golden Joystick Awards.
