Willie! Answer your phone!
One has to wonder if this was by design? Switchgrass is cheaper to use and yeilds more ethanol than using corn. They could have saved millions heck billions in using Switchgrass. One has to wonder who is in charge over there. Instead of buying up all the corn and taking it away from the market as a feed for animals and man they couldve used common switchgrass and yielded more energy per acre of land and saved money and made money in doing so. IDIOTS!!,LOL
Those greedy corn farmers are getting what they deserve. While the poor starved, they sold their crop to used as fuel to power fat, greedy, lazy Americans gas guzzlers. Thankfully Obama is going to raise energy costs to force the greedy american people to use less. Go Obama!
You are a total idiot. You wouldn't want to be eating the corn the farmers are forced to grow these days by huge agri-business, multi-national Monsanto. It's all genetically modified and totally unfit for feeding cows, let alone people. The farmers are not greedy. The work they do is based on wanting to provide for their families, just like your work. If they didn't go the route of poisonous Roundup and Monsanto's diabolical terminator seeds, they would have been forced out of business and lose their farms.
It's the big oil fat cats that sabotage workable solutions like ethanol. They don't let any competitors survive. It's not in their nature.
And one more thing, a vote for Obama is a vote for a smooth talking snake oil salesman who's a Marxist and wants to redistribute the wealth. And believe me, we're not talking about the truly wealthy, those Wall Street bankers that are destroying our economy. That's the big money behind Obama. He'll take from the middle class and give it to the poor. That's what you're voting for (in addition to waging war against Russia and a few other assorted odds and ends Obama stands for). Can you imagine seeing that witch of a wife of his for the next four years plastered all over the papers and magazines. Gag me with a spoon!
I live in 'corn Country' and I am boggled by the ignorance of city people. Should the American farmer bear the expense of feeding the world? Have you a bit of a clue of the average American farmer's investment? What is a fair profit for a business? 5% 3% 2% What is the number? Is the farmer responsible for what VeraSun wants to do? Get educated before you bash my livelihood and living and profession.
Industrial Farming and Government subsidies create artificial economies just like the the Federal Reserve. We don't have real free markets in America (we have monopoly capitalism) hell we don't even have a democracy (we have a Plutacracy).
Were not a democracy, we use the democratic process to pick our representatives, to act on our behalf, in our republic.
Why not plant hemp?
Great bio fuel from hemp.
As other posters have pointed out, the use of switchgrass or hemp would have been much smarter. These corporate types only see the dollar signs and don't look far enough into the future. Corn as a biofuel? What a dumb idea! Wake up America, let's be smart about alternative energy! Think first, find the BEST alternative fuel and the most efficient delivery system.
We have been listening to these bogus claims so long nobody is watching the facts anymore!
Burning corn is no 'cleaner' or 'better' unless one ignores real facts. Like 6 billion plus people burning anything every day can't be sustained.
Burning corn or grass (or the other grass) or oil or wood or your 1040 short form is still -
burning.
All the emo and flag waving can't change the fact that burning is the problem not the answer.
