People love Doug Engelbart. He's like a God to some techies. Not only for his inventing the mouse but also for his concept of tagging information thus making it easier to search. I believe this is the basis for cloud computing. More info can be found about this at Engelbart's website www.bootstrap.org.

For those of use working to create new interfaces, there are those who treat us as though we are being disrespectful of his genius. This seems a bit absurd since we are trying to emulate his accomplishments, not condemn them. Even Bill Joy in a Wired article said it would be difficult for the next Doug Engelbart. As usual, Bill was right.

Despite the challenges, working to bridge the gap between man and machine is a noble cause and one worth fighting for. We believe that gap is filled with light. We shall see.
