Not that we’d expect traditionally tight-lipped Apple Inc. to either confirm or deny recent rumours concerning the emergence of an iPhone Nano handset, the arrival of yet another third-party protection case isn’t likely to quell mounting speculation.

Specifically, Apple Insider reports that prominent case maker Vaja has moved to update its online product portfolio by adding a dedicated section that will become populated with items aimed squarely at the still fictional shrunken iPhone.
While the section link is currently devoid of related accessories, visitors to the site are redirected to a Web form that enables them to “sign up for the upcoming release” of its “iPhone Nano cases.”
Adding more fuel to the iPhone Nano fire, Vaja’s apparent stock intentions come only a few days after accessory company XSKN posted images of a smaller protective case it claims to be for the new iPhone.
Of course, given Apple’s renowned reputation for retention, it’s highly unlikely third-party accessory companies would have access to such advanced product information, which is a point plenty of industry watchers have offered in voicing their iPhone Nano scepticism.
However, Apple Insider suggests that it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility to believe, “contacts at Apple’s off-shore manufacturing facilities may be able to obtain specifications for the company’s future handheld products through unconventional means.”
Although certainly far from proof of knowledge on the part of XSKN, the case maker’s claims perhaps carry a modicum of weight based on cases for the 3G iPhone and fourth-generation iPod that it released well ahead of Apple’s official unveiling.
It remains to be seen whether Cupertino-based Apple issues any official comment regarding the rumours at the upcoming Macworld 2009 Conference and Expo, which runs from January 05 to January 09 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
