Despite claims pointing to a possible reoccurrence of the pancreatic cancer that Jobs battled through in 2004, the iconic Apple executive has this week insisted he’s alive and well, attributing any recent loss of weight to nothing more than a hormonal imbalance.
In explaining his decision to “share something very personal with the Apple community,” Jobs wrote that his doctors conducted “sophisticated blood tests,” which subsequently confirmed that the imbalance was “robbing” his system of vital proteins required to help sustain a healthy body.
Jobs also offered that, should he ever be unable to fulfil his duties as Apple’s CEO, he will be the first to step up and inform the gadget and computer specialist’s board of directors.
With regard to opting out of his traditional keynote speech at the Macworld event in San Francisco, which was believed to be a contributing factor to the health-based speculation, Jobs revealed the absence allowed him to spend the holiday season with his family “for the first time in a decade.”
