Those computer users presently running their hardware on the Windows operating system (let’s face it, that’s almost all of us) should be aware that Microsoft Corp. is preparing a fresh patch update for this coming Tuesday, February 10.
Not quite the patch you\'ll need on Tuesday. But nice. Image: aeu04117/Flickt.
The latest of Microsoft’s monthly security releases will address known “Critical” issues with the Internet Explorer browsing software, along with other faults isolated in Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Exchange Server 2003, and Exchange Server 2007.
Beyond the more worrisome fixes, Microsoft’s new patch batch will also deal with two “Important” issues centring on SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 and the hugely popular Office suite, all of which are currently susceptible to remote code execution from an outside attacker.
Those Windows users with the Automatic Updates feature turned on need not worry about physically retrieving the upcoming patch, while those who (unwisely) opt not to take advantage of auto-updating will need to visit Microsoft directly to download its added protection come Tuesday.
