As long as common sense isn’t mindlessly abandoned when slipping behind the steering wheel of your car, then following the prompts and guidance of an onboard GPS navigational system can certainly assist when it comes to enjoying a more economical journey.

And, beyond the attainment of quicker, smoother and (mostly) problem-free travelling, in-car GPS assistance is now set to shift into the realms of fuel efficiency following the unveiling of the new Vexia Econav.
While not made of recycled cardboard or powered by a wind-up handle, the economical aspects offered up by the Econav will see users being more actively green while saving some all-important green thanks to an onboard system that cuts down on fuel consumption and thereby reduces carbon emissions.
In order to experience those benefits, Vexia outlines that, prior to setting off on a programmed trip, users must first input their vehicle’s manufacturer and fuel capacity and also the number of people that will be carried on the journey.
Unlike other GPS navigation devices, the Vexia Econav focuses on details of road speed and traffic congestion in order to create optimal fuel consumption as opposed to optimal journey time, which will result in a potentially longer trip but one that’s better for both environment and bank account.
Adding to the eco-possibilities, the Vexia Econav also includes a map display screen system that tells the user whenever their speed passes beyond optimum levels, they’re driving in the wrong gear, or they’re over revving the engine.
According to Vexia, users could save around 400 GBP on the roads each year if they correctly follow the Econav’s instructions for enhanced eco-driving.
The fuel-efficient Vexia Econav is expected to hit the UK and Ireland before the end of March. The standard 3.5-inch model will cost around 160 GBP, while the 3.5-inch Total Europe model will be priced at 200 GBP and the 4.3-inch Econav 430 Total Europe will come attached to a price of 230 GBP.
