Calling all coders, researchers, and security buffs; Google wants you to rip its Native Client apart. For the next 10 weeks, Google is hosting a contest where it wants to hand over cash prizes for the person or team that discovers the hardest-hitting vulnerabilities and reports them before anyone else, or before Google fixes the issue.

Native Client is an open-source research technology for running x86 native code in Web applications. The contest hosted by Google has a single aim: make Native Client secure. The contest, while having a strict set of rules and terms, is open to anyone, and very straightforward.
Google wants to make things interesting, and this is where the cash comes in. Namely, Google will offer $8,192 USD as first prize, $4,096 USD as second, $2,048 USD for third place, and $1,024 USD for fourth and fifth prize.
“To participate, you will need to test the Native Client builds, identify security exploits which affect the current Native Client build at the time of submission and report them to our team,” Google explains.
“At the end of the contest, all entries will be reviewed by a panel of academic experts, chaired by Edward Felten of Princeton University,” it adds. “They will select the five eligible entries with the most high-impact bugs, and these winners will receive cash prizes, as well as earn bragging rights.”
To make sure you qualify for the cash and contest, Google requires that anyone wanting to take part must first read and agree to its associated Terms and Conditions, which can be found by clicking here. There is also an extensive FAQ, which can be found here.
Good luck!
