As technology and gadgety titan Apple Inc. edges ever closer to registering its billionth App Store download, the Cupertino-based company is looking to drum up a little extra media and consumer focus by offering up a host of worthy prizes to accompany and commemorate the landmark achievement.

And, if you’re an Apple fan (who isn’t these days), then getting in on the act and standing a chance of winning a $10,000 USD iTunes Gift Card, an iPod Touch handset, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro notebook couldn’t be easier.
All you have to do to become Apple’s big winner is simply hit the App Store and download one of its many applications, and if you’re lucky enough to be the person that secures the 999,999,999th slice of software then all of the above will soon become yours (to flog on eBay?).
However, if you don’t fancy downloading an app and/or throwing in a few measly dollars for the chance at some serious swag, then Apple will even add your tight-assed name to the expanding pile of scavenging miscreants if you’re at least willing to scrawl a semi-illegible ‘X’ across this online participation form.
In fact, beyond filling in a few personal details, the only caveat preventing a shot at Apple’s goodies is your geographical placement. Namely, residents of the following nations need only apply:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada (excluding Quebec), Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States (and the district of Columbia).
