After last week’s steady procession of generic Netbook platforms, we hoped against hope that the hardware industry would grant us a little respite in having to reel off the same old specification lists while attempting to find something worth pointing out in terms of aesthetics. We’re foolishly optimistic, you see.

Meet the Eee PC T91, the latest Netbook offering shoved off the perpetual production line of Taiwan-based ultra mobile specialist ASUSTeK (ASUS).
Expected to arrive on European shores this coming June, the Eee PC T91 is slightly smaller in overall size but larger in price than some recent Netbook entrants, according to tech Web site T3, which highlights a modest 8.9-inch LCD display and a UK price of approximately 450 GBP (675 USD).
Although industry chatter surrounding the T91 has been thin on the ground since ASUSTeK initially unveiled the platform at CES in January, the new Netbook is also expected to offer up an Intel Atom Z520 processor, a full 1GB of RAM and optional hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD) data storage – with a projected ceiling of around 160GBs.
While connectivity details are sketchy, other contributing points that will work towards justifying the T91’s inflated pricing include on-board GPS capabilities and an integrated TV tuner.
Then there’s that aforementioned aesthetic talking point, which arrives in the form of an admittedly sexy tablet-esque touch-sensitive screen that’s mounted on a swivel axis hinge for dodging awkward rays of light while viewing Web clips and affording fellow commuters a better view of personal e-mail and banking details.
Okay, fair enough, consider our tainted view of all-things Netbook temporarily tempered by the Eee PC T91… although we can’t see many on-the-go computer users willing to drop 450 GBP on it.
