Although we here at The Tech Herald would strongly recommend deleting ALL forms of unrecognised and unsolicited e-mail, not just those in a foreign language, if curiosity gets the better of you – and the security of your computer means nothing – then Google has just what you need.
Gmail now boasts built-in translation tool. Image: Google.
Specifically, users of Google Gmail have today been gifted with an automatic translation application that will convert electronic communications into the account holder’s preferred language at the click of a button. Genius.
Of course, beyond helping to decipher incoming mail penned in a foreign tongue, the Gmail integration of Google Translate, which is also a freestanding online translation tool for Web pages, should also provide benefits in the enterprise sector.
According to California-based Google, businesses that often deal with international clients not well versed in English (by way of example) will be able to communicate back and forth without having to worry about broken delivery and misinterpretation.
“If all parties are using Gmail, you can have entire conversations in multiple languages with each participant reading the messages in whatever language is most comfortable for them,” explained Google in an official blog post.
Those Gmail account holders eager to put the application’s 41 languages to the test can do so by activating it through the Gmail ‘settings’ menu.
The weaving of Google Translate into the tapestry of Gmail comes soon after Google released Search Options, a selection of handy new tools designed to enhance and improve performance through its market-leading search engine.
