I would like to have known how compatible MSE is with other malware detecting programs, like SpyBlaster, Windows Defender, firewalls, Ad-Aware Anniversary edition. I like to use several forms of protection but if there would be conflict I would not use MSE.

@stickershock

Give me a day or so and I'll work something up for you.

As it is, you make a good point. MSE is only one layer, so I'll install other layers and see if there are issues.

Feel free to email me (security@thetech......)to follow-up if you do not see something before the end of next week.

Best,

I've been using it for over a month with Spybot, Windows Defender, ZoneAlarm Security Suite (with Malware protection disabled), and WinPatrol 2009. So far, no conflicts whatsoever. Like the author, I'm very pleased with it, and barring any unforeseen problems, I will probably keep it. Although it's based on perception, it is nowhere near as resource hungry as nearly every other malware engine I've experimented with, and it doesn't seem to slow me down to a crawl when it's running a scan. And it's free!

Initially, it worked well with XP Pro SP3. Then something caused my computer to hang over a minute during shutdown at 'Saving your settings'.
Prior to installation, and subsequently after I un-installed MSE, it takes
about 2 seconds.

Can you tell me how does Microsoft Security Essentials cleans a computer that has been infected? It seems that is has a good detection, but can it's clean up the mess that malware leave in the O.S? It would be a good thing that a AV that is from Microsoft could 'repair' a system that is infected. Well...they know the code to Windows, so i thing that wouldn't be hard to them to do that, and it would be a good thing to us Windows user's.

How about e-mail scanning - incoming and outgoing ?
also - how good is this firewall ?

I use AVG free edition and Comodo firewall and all seems to work fine

@stefanos

I would uninstall it first. Having two AV products on the same system can sometimes cause conflict.
