Following on from yesterday’s trio of Acer Aspire notebooks, two of which offer solid portable performance at near-Netbook prices, Acer-owned Gateway has further blurred hardware boundaries by unveiling a new Netbook with high-definition leanings to further tempt those consumers unwilling to part with more than $400 USD.

Weighing in at a mere 3.14 lbs (1.42 kg), the Gateway LT3103u comes equipped with an 11.6-inch LCD display screen capable of 720p HD and arrives as something of a departure in Netbook circles as it carries an AMD Athlon 64 L110 processor – rather than the popular Intel Atom so prevalent across the budget, ultra-mobile sector.
Boasting a full-size keyboard and a multi-gesture touchpad, the LT3103u also stands out from the Netbook crowd thanks to the inclusion of an ATI Radeon X1270 graphics card, 2GBs of DDR2 RAM, a spacious 250GB hard disk drive, and a six-cell Lithium-ion battery promising five hours of single-charge operation.
Available in colour choices of either Red or Black and described as “a smart netbook choice” by Gateway, the LT3103u should provide reliable mobile communications and “enhanced netbook performance” that will enable users to “do even more while on the go.”
Other contributing features on the LT3103u include the Windows Vista Home operating system, Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g), an integrated Web camera, a built-in multi card reader, two stereo speakers and a trio of USB 2.0 ports.
