Following on from news that new parental controls in the iPhone 3.0 SDK have seen Apple turning a blind eye to App Store applications carrying full nudity, reports that the Cupertino-based company has moved to block access to the first such offending creation appear to be inaccurate.

After boastfully announcing a service upgrade introducing photos of bare breasted and fully naked girls to its existing portfolio of semi-clad girls, a sudden lack of availability initially suggested ‘Hottest Girls’ had attracted enough attention to suffer Apple’s wrath.
However, according to an explanatory note posted to Allenthegeek.com, the official Web site of Hottest Girls developer Allen Leung, the sexy iPhone and iPod Touch application is merely “temporarily sold out” due to the sheer weight of consumer demand for the $1.99 USD app.
“The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app,” explained the note. “Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing. Customer satisfaction is more important to us than profits.”
While the developer has claimed current lack of availability is merely a result of responding to demand in order to protect its servers, it has also been quick to indicate that Apple has in no way dropped the hammer on the nudity now gracing Hottest Girls.
“Yes, the topless images will still be there when [Hottest Girls] is sold again,” said the developer’s note – although it made no mention of exactly when sales would resume.
