Naked cabin crew deliver in-flight safety instructions (Video)

When it comes to flying, we’re all guilty of absentmindedly leafing through the in-flight magazine or fiddling with our seat controls when we should be paying attention to the cabin crew safety demonstration video. That’s a potentially dangerous lapse in concentration that Air New Zealand is eager to amend.

At first glance, Air New Zealand’s latest in-flight safety video is much the same as any other – but spare a second look and it quickly becomes apparent that the cabin crew delivering the demonstration are completely naked.In the new Bare Essentials of Safety video, a willing Air New Zealand flight officer and four members of cabin crew bare all in order to make sure the eyes of passengers are fixed firmly to their screens while the instructional video walks them through the basics of safety.Of course, the focus of the video remains centred on safety throughout, and the nudity is handled tastefully on a shot-to-shot basis thanks to the application of full body paint uniforms, subtle photography, and strategically placed seat belts and life jackets.“We think in tough times there’s a premium for making people smile, and it gives the opportunity to stand out in a crowd,” enthused Steve Bayliss, marketing general manager for Air New Zealand, in an AOL Travel report.Although the suggestive video stops short of being offensive and does not show female breasts or genitalia, all five of the Air New Zealand employees still had to undergo more than three hours of makeup as their painted uniforms were applied.Want regular updates from The Tech Herald?
