Dealing with disgruntled customers on a daily basis is an associated burden often shouldered by those working professionally in the retail sector. However, that burden recently became a searing pain for one Apple store employee in Arlington, Virginia, after she was attacked and shot in a suspected robbery.

According to FOXNews, the unnamed 26-year-old shop assistant sustained a gunshot wound to the right shoulder after answering a doorbell at the rear of the store at around 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning – and while dozens of shoppers were perusing the store’s wares.
Surveillance footage of the incident, which was captured by an in-store camera (and can be viewed below), shows the woman reeling from her would-be attacker, who is clearly carrying a handgun.
After ushering the frightened shop assistant into another room off-camera, the man is then seen bolting from the store through the same rear entrance.
Police officials investigating the crime have said the woman’s attacker is believed to be an African American male in his 20s or 30s with a medium build and a height between 170cm (5 feet, 7 inches) and 183cm (6 feet).
It is also thought the man, who successfully evaded a police helicopter and K9 search units dispatched to the scene, was wearing a light coloured short-sleeve shirt, lightly coloured pants, a dark coloured baseball cap – and was perhaps even sporting a fake beard.
The victim was subsequently rushed to hospital, where she is presently recovering from her injuries. Doctors have said she is in a serious but stable condition.
