Don’t look now, but the persistent rumour of a new svelte and slender version of the PlayStation 3 is back with a vengeance – although it was never really gone in the first place.
Hmm, who can argue with THIS as proof? Put your hands down. Image: T3.com
This time around Sony’s forthcoming standard-issue denials will surround the emergence of debatable video footage from Asia (first red flag) that purports to showcase the PlayStation 3 Slim in all its glory.
Interestingly, the YouTube clip in question doesn’t claim to include a ‘leaked’ sneak peek at the still-unconfirmed home console, but dares to suggest that the hardware shown is actually on sale, at retail, in the Philippines (second red flag).
The video, which looks to have been shot with a shoddy camera phone, is of extremely poor quality (third red flag), and appears to detail the same slim console recently shopped around the Net via equally dodgy photographs.
Sporting a newly designed ‘PS3’ logo, twin USB ports and a new take on the current finger-pressure eject button, the smaller, sleeker version of Sony’s powerhouse console also looks to be attached to a price of around $250 USD (fourth red flag given Sony’s recent pricing standpoint).
Our conclusion? We won’t even bother to warn our more gullible readers against placing any hope on the authenticity of this Asian knock-off. It’s bunk. If Sony hasn’t announced it, it doesn’t exist. Let’s move on.
