As technology increases in scope and shrinks in size, mobile phone manufacturers continue to cram all manner of fancy features and functions on their devices while pushing actual voice communication to the very bottom of the bullet point role call.

Meet AT&T’s new Sony Ericsson C905a, a slick handset with metallic detailing that’s almost more camera than phone thanks to the inclusion of a serious 8.1 mega pixel snapper – which equates to the highest resolution camera phone ever sold by the heavyweight American carrier.
Not just delivering a significant platform where mega pixels are concerned, the C905a also comes with 16x digital zoom, integrated Face Detection software, the ability to geographically tag photos, and improvement tools such as Smart Contrast, Image Stabilisation, and White Balance.
Reaching beyond the restriction of still photography, the C905a also has video recording capabilities capable of capturing footage at a respectable 30 frames per second (fps).
Of course, a subsidised price of $179.99 USD after a mail-in rebate and an agreed two-year AT&T service contract, means that Sony Ericsson’s latest isn’t just a snazzy camera.
Moreover, the C905a is carried on AT&T’s high-speed 3G network as well as Wi-Fi, and supports multiple communication services such as MMS picture messaging, e-mail platforms such as Yahoo and Windows Live Mail, and quick online access to popular social destinations Flickr, YouTube and Facebook.
Other contributing aspects include aGPS, a Web browser, a music and video player, a basic 120MBs of internal memory, optional memory expansion via Micro M2, Exchange ActiveSync compatibility, Bluetooth, and USB.
