Lauded by the critics but largely overlooked by the majority of videogame consumers, award-winning PlayStation exclusive LittleBigPlanet may have fallen short of helping Sony sell more units of its powerhouse hardware but that doesn’t mean it isn’t popular – in its own unique way.

Specifically, more than one million gameplay levels engineered by LittleBigPlanet users through the game’s innovative creation interface have now been uploaded and shared through Sony’s online PlayStation Network (PSN).
Announced by Sony Computer Entertainment via its official European PlayStation Blog, the landmark figure equates to a published level every 21 seconds since the action platform title was first released to retail at the tail end of 2008.
According to trade publication GamesIndustry.biz, Sony’s focus on the million uploads, which have been played some 244 million times, indicates that LittleBigPlanet development studio Media Molecule will reveal some interesting news during August’s upcoming Gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany.
