Given the enduring global profile and current criminal and drug controversy surrounding recently deceased pop legend Michael Jackson, it comes as no surprise whatsoever to witness the emergence of a sensational video clip showing footage of the star very much alive after his time of death.
See, he\'s right there... and clearly not dead. Image: tipoyock/Flickr.
The incredibly fortuitous footage appears to show a California Coroners van arriving at an underground car park, whereupon a suited security person opens the van’s rear doors and another man – apparently Michael Jackson – hops out and is ushered through a nearby door.
Now, perpetual sceptics that we are here at The Tech Herald, we find ourselves leaning towards the crank camp on this one.
An oh-so lucky passerby, with a camera at the ready, just so happens to be loitering at the exact entrance point the van pulls into, and is able to run up behind it without any members of the secret conspiracy noticing, in order to film the precise moment Jackson’s hoaxed death is revealed – and all a matter of feet from the street? Why not just have a Big Foot get out of the van too, if we’re stretching the boundaries of believability here.
And, if online reaction is anything to go by, we’re not the only ones smelling something a little malodorous in the air. Beyond the fact that at no point in the brief clip are we treated to an actual shot of Jackson’s face, other comments floating around on the Net gnaw at various other bones of contention.
“It’s a fake,” exclaims ‘themassivechallenge’ on video sharing site Youtube. “The font of the text that “Coroner” is printed in doesn’t match the font used by the LA Department of Coroner.”
“…come on, who would allow some random guy with a camera to be that close to [Michael Jackson] if it was real,” adds ‘biggestROHfan6391’.
However, not everyone is so utterly convinced the clip lacks authenticity, with one commenter suggesting the footage proves Jackson “faked his death because he is worth more dead than alive. This will pay of all his debt.”
Sadly, we remain unconvinced.
