Looking like something you’d expect to find on the set of the latest Star Trek movie, the technology boffins at Pure have this week markedly increased the appeal of DAB and Web radio by revealing the undeniably sleek and sexy Sensia.
DAB and Web radio? Cool? Um, it is now. Image: Pure.
And, seemingly not content with merely looking like a prop from a sci-fi blockbuster, the egg-shaped Sensia also adds to its pseudo-futuristic credentials by offering up a completely touch-screen Linux-based user interface (UI) to accent its clean design and chrome accents.
Equipped with a sizable 5.7 inch full-colour display (640 x 480), Pure boasts that its Sensia is destined to bring “radio to the Facebook generation” via support for DAB/DAB+/FM stations, Web radio, podcasts, weather and news reports, Picasa, Facebook and Twitter.
Clearly intent on spreading its reach to include media applications that create a more connected user experience, Pure has also intimated that direct music purchasing could be on its way to the Sensia thanks to a Spotify app attached to its own dedicated MP3 download store.
Other contributing aspects packed into the Sensia include Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, external MP3 player compatibility (iPod included), a remote control unit, a ‘Listen again’ feature that allows users to catch radio content on-demand, and the inclusion of Pure’s proprietary ‘Clearsound technology’ for pumping out tunes at a thoroughly respectable 30W RMS.
Of course, such clearly sexy styling and top-notch user interfacing doesn’t come dirt cheap these days, which means the Sensia is going to cost you just shy of 250 GBP when it arrives during the latter part of October.
