Protecting your important computer data by transferring copies to an external source is a simple, easy, and vitally important protection process that a surprisingly large number of people don’t bother doing.

While constant preventative data protection could be viewed as a user inconvenience, or perhaps even an annoyance, the latest back-up system from Netgear certainly makes the whole process considerably cooler – and not in terms of temperature.
More pointedly, looking not unlike Nintendo’s black GameCube, the blocky but attractive Stora network attached storage device (NAS) arrives an as all-in-one desktop solution that’s looking to tempt consumers with a combination of easy usability and sassy looks.
Capable of holding two quick-install 3.5-inch hard disk drives (HDDs) and equipped with a whopping 1TB (terabyte) drive right out of the box, the Stora is the perfect destination for the storage of photographs, music, movies, and all manner of personal documents.
Although the Stora is accessible from any computer on the user’s home network – and duly protected as an external source – Netgear is throwing further spice on its product through the official MyStora Web site, which offers users remote content access from any Internet-enabled platform.
“Stora is most definitely a platform for everyone,” enthused Drew Meyer, network storage marketing director at Netgear, in a product statement. “Story gives users the features they need today with a consumer-friendly user interface and price point, making their media available to them and their designated friends and families anytime, anywhere.”
Available for PC, Mac and Linux-powered operating systems, the Netgear Stora is also compatible with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 home consoles, iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones, and comes with support for the iTunes Library, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and DLNA.
Not just desirable because it offers an instant 1TB of protected data storage and a second dock for quick and easy expansion, the new Stora NAS also happens to be something of a steal thanks to a price tag of just 189.99 GBP.
