Previously known under its developmental codename of the ‘HTC Whitestone’, the new HTC Imagio smartphone is being touted as a feature-rich multimedia platform and also comes complete with support for V CAST Mobile TV, V CAST Video on Demand and V CAST Music.
Core specifications include Qualcomm’s respectable 528MHz MSM7600 processor, a generous 3.6-inch WVGA touch-screen display, 3G and Wi-Fi network connectivity, a 5.0 mega pixel camera, and GPS navigation.
The Imagio also utilises HTC’s TouchFlo 3D user interface, which is augmented by five quick-launch buttons slung beneath the display and also a touch-sensitive zoom bar that was first utilised aboud the HTC Touch Diamond2 and the HTC Touch Pro2.
Other attributes include Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, memory expansion via a built-in microSD slot, and a rechargeable 1500 lithium ion battery.
Expected to hit online retail this coming October 06 – as with many new handsets carrying Microsoft’s refreshed Windows Mobile 6.5 platform – the HTC Imagio will come attached to a price of $199.99 USD with a mandatory two-year data contract and after a $100 USD mail-in rebate.
The handset will arrive in bricks-and-mortar outlets from October 20.
