Following Verizon’s recent unveiling of the HTC Imagio, the provider’s first handset powered by Windows Mobile 6.5, rival telecommunications giant AT&T has this week offered up not one but two new phones running the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

Much as with the Imagio device, AT&T’s first WiMo 6.5 smartphone devices come from the HTC portfolio and arrive as the HTC Tilt 2 and HTC Pure.
Beyond the addition of Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system, the HTC Tilt 2 comes with a tilting high resolution 3.6-inch display, a 3.2 mega pixel camera, and a large QWERTY keyboard. The Pure comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and a 5.0 mega pixel camera.
According to AT&T, the world’s largest distributor of Windows-equipped handsets, the new Tilt 2 and Pure are being positioned to lead the company’s Windows phone line-up into 2010 and build on an established history of leadership in smartphones and Windows Mobile.
Those keen on embracing Windows Mobile 6.5 can expect to receive several upgrades that enhance ease-of-use, such as a touch-friendly user interface, an improved Internet Explorer browser with Flash support, along with content and applications that are just a fingertip away on a redesigned Start Menu.
For those prospective mobile customers looking to make the switch to WiMo 6.5, the Tilt 2 will come attached to a price of $300 USD, while the Pure will cost $150 USD. Of course, those prices are reliant on signing a mandatory fixed-period service contract and taking advantage of $50 USD mail-in rebates.
